According to Dr. Chang Yan Chen from Department of Radiation Oncology, the researchers at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School, Boston, said, nicotine is a component of tobacco that can cause lung cancer, the head and nape cancers, prostate cancer and others. There are 10-12 nicotine receptor that is visible on the surface of various cells.

Although most research on nicotine has concentrated on the impact on the nervous system, new research shows that nicotine can also activate the point in the non-nerve cells, including tumor cells.
