"Simple Chinese Medicine: A Beginner's Guide to Natural Healing and Well-Being" Aihan Dr. Kuhn is a very good introductory text of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), which also offers some very good information about healthy living. After reading the biography of Dr. Kuhn, a recognized credentials for writing such a book, and after reading the book, one recognizes her ability to explain concepts of TCM in an understandable way.
The book contains seven chapters. The first chapter is a very good overview of traditional Chinese medicine. Kuhn explains that TCM, some of the differences between TCM and western medicine, a history of TCM, and then a bit about theory, resources, diagnostic methods and treatments available in medical practice.
Chapter Two, the food treatment in Chinese medicine, and the third section, a healthy balanced diet and weight loss, the Chinese way, a good chapter on the importance of food for healing and health. Kuhn gives guidance on healing foods, balance foods, and eat the right foods, as recommended Chinese Diet for a healthy life and maintaining proper weight.
Chapter Four is titled Chinese Exercises for the treatment, prevention, and good health. This chapter focuses on Qigong and Tai Chi practice and their importance for the over all health and healing.
Chapter five is only four pages long and contains some basic principles of Daoist healing. It was enough to give you a taste of Daoist philosophy and maybe inspire you to learn more.
The head was probably six chapters that most Westerners will have no problem s. chapter focuses on cancer prevention and healing. I firmly believe that the principles taught in TCM can help a person live a healthier and more likely to prevent some types of cancer. It is not hard to believe, we have evidence that a healthy life, such as not smoking, can prevent cancer. So why would a healthy life and exercise practices also help the immune system of cancer that attacks the body battle? I would not suggest the abandonment of Western medicine, if you have cancer, nor would Dr. Kuhn. I think a combination of Eastern and Western medicines can be used to get maybe just one or the other can not provide. In this chapter, etc., Kuhn shows through photographs of different Qigong exercises are used for treatment.
the final chapter, seven were called secrets of Chinese medicine, good health and longevity. It focuses on healthy living through the personality, balance and harmony. Contributions include some common herbs and herbal tonics, Asian healthy recipes, and some statements from some of Dr. Kuhn in patients.
More than anything, I enjoyed this book and feel that it gives some very practical tips for healthy living. This is a very good introduction to the basic traditional Chinese medicine and a useful guide for incorporating some principles of TCM into your healthy lifestyle. I'm sure many reading this book you will want to further their education by reading more advanced books on the subject, or asking the doctors involved in TCM for more information. This is a very good place to start, and if you do not go away, you'll still learn some practical guidelines for healthy living.
