Yes, it's true ... If you want to lose weight and get healthy low carb way of eating, whether it's Atkins, Southbeach, Neanderthin, or any other variation on lowcarb, your will quickly discover that it simply costs more in store.
Let's face it, carbohydrates are cheap, and most of meat and vegetables are not. Before I went on Atkins, I used to buy a £ 25 bag of rice for about $ 80-10 as I recall - and that bag will last for months. It was with me to eat rice almost every day for one or more meals. Rice is one of the fillers a perfect meal, because it can take on the flavor of whatever you put in. Friends used to marvel at how little I spent shopping, as I learned in my college fraternity just to buy a cheap meal. ..
Chili was still my favorite one - the beans have always been pretty cheap, so many kinds of pasta. I even make my own bread, and I make a round sourdough bread for about 25 cents of the total cost. All very low-cost ways to eat, all chock full of carbohydrates.
But Atkins easily doubled my account shop - now I actually had to buy different cuts of meat and fish, vegetables and real ... even the occasional fruit. (Although, as you will learn, a common term 'fruit and vegetables' to equate two far more than they deserve) Shopping low carb is not a cheap way to go, perhaps the biggest bargain I have found many different ways that hamburger and eggs can be prepared. (Even along !)
and my food choices actually widened, as I began to learn about the many different ways to prepare fish and meat, and learn about the vegetables that I'd never tasted before. I learned that not all squash the "sentimental" (ever tried butternut squash?), and I actually learned a few ways to prepare zucchini which is edible. I learned to cook eggplant (thanks Internet!), a selection of food to eat now is much larger than my pre-Atkin days.
but the price is still higher than 'normal' eating ... and yet, it can be easily justified. You see, the unseen factor here is my health - I enjoy better health, and that certainly resulted in fewer doctor visits over the years, and will undoubtedly result in many years. So, while eating low carb can makes more expensive - it's actually cheaper in comparison to the benefits received
.It just takes awhile to learn how to appreciate it! I'd try a low carb, your body will thank you for it!
